Rashford Loan Triggers €5m Penalty If Barça Walk Away

Barcelona's Rashford loan comes with a €5m penalty twist if deal ends early, raising eyebrows amid their ongoing La Liga registration issues

Barcelona have worked out a loan deal with Manchester United for Marcus Rashford, including a unique penalty clause that could still earn the Premier League club a payout, IsaGoal can report.

According to Sport, Rashford’s move isn’t the €45 million permanent transfer United initially aimed for, but they agreed on a structure that keeps financial benefits on the table.

The 27-year-old landed in Barcelona on Sunday night and was already at the training complex by Monday morning. He will join the team on the pitch Tuesday, linking up with Hansi Flick’s squad a week into their preseason schedule.

To make the move possible, Rashford agreed to reduce his salary by 25%, with Barcelona covering the remainder of his wages.

Although no loan fee is being paid, Barcelona could end up paying €5 million if they don’t activate the €30 million buy option at the end of the season.

“Barcelona must pay €5m if they pass on the purchase clause,” Sport reported.

This setup gives Barcelona financial breathing room during registration challenges, without affecting their salary cap.

The club still faces issues registering new signings like Roony Bardghji, Joan Garcia, and renewing contracts for Lamine Yamal and Wojciech Szczesny.
