Marcus Rashford is closing in on a sensational transfer to Barcelona from Manchester United, IsaGoal can report, with the deal now in its final stages.
The 27-year-old forward has been pushing for a move to Spain since returning from his loan spell at Aston Villa and has trained alone all summer to stay fit.
Rashford’s brother and agent reportedly traveled to Barcelona in May to hold talks with club officials, paving the way for an agreement with the Spanish champions.
While Barça initially prioritised a move for Nico Williams—who has now renewed with Athletic Bilbao—and were priced out of a deal for Luis Diaz, Rashford became their top target.
Manchester United have now accepted the proposal submitted through intermediaries, and negotiations over personal terms are nearing completion.
Rashford spent part of the summer in Marbella as he waited for progress on his future, even as United returned to pre-season training last week.
Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has quietly backed the club’s approach, saying in May: “I don’t want to speak about players which are not in my team, but of course Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford are fantastic players. I like them and we’ll see what happens.”
The England international is now expected to become Barcelona’s second signing of the summer window following their €25 million swoop for Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia.
Barcelona returned to training last Sunday and will begin their La Liga title defence against Mallorca on August 16.
