Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the exit of three senior players just ten days after their Europa League victory in Bilbao.
According to talkSPORT, Fraser Forster, Alfie Whiteman, and Sergio Reguilon will all depart the club when their contracts expire this summer. The announcement follows the conclusion of Timo Werner’s loan spell, with the forward set to return to RB Leipzig.
All four players were present in Spain on May 21 when Spurs edged past Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final. Brennan Johnson’s decisive strike brought an end to Tottenham’s 17-year wait for a major trophy and secured their return to the Champions League for the 2025/26 season.
Goalkeeper Whiteman leaves after a decade with Spurs, having made just one senior appearance—coming off the bench in a 4-0 Europa League win over Ludogorets in 2020. Despite being part of the squad in Bilbao, he remained unused in the final.
Fraser Forster, signed as a backup in 2022, departs at age 37 after featuring 34 times during his three-year stint in north London. With Guglielmo Vicario injured and Hugo Lloris out of form, Forster stepped in throughout the campaign.
Meanwhile, Sergio Reguilon ends a five-year spell at Tottenham. Initially signed from Real Madrid for £30 million, the Spanish left-back made early impressions but eventually slipped down the ranks. A series of loan spells at Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, and Brentford followed. Injuries in the current season led to his brief return, featuring six times.
Timo Werner, who rejoined Spurs on loan for a second spell, struggled to replicate his previous impact. Although he delivered in key moments—including a goal against Man City in the League Cup—his inconsistency and injuries saw his role fade. “Werner just couldn’t find the rhythm Spurs needed, especially during the campaign’s closing stages,” said one insider.
Additionally, the club confirmed that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s move to Marseille and Kevin Danso’s transfer from RC Lens are now permanent.
With a Champions League campaign on the horizon, manager Ange Postecoglou is expected to spearhead a busy summer window. Tottenham’s rebuild continues as they target more arrivals to strengthen the squad.
