Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has confirmed the club will legally challenge UEFA’s decision to exclude them from the Europa League, IsaGoal can report.
Despite winning the FA Cup, Palace were relegated to the Europa Conference League due to UEFA’s ruling over a conflict of interest involving former co-owner John Textor, who also has ties to Lyon.
Textor has since sold his shares in Palace, and Parish insists he never had decisive influence at the club.
“We are still fighting,” Parish told The Rest is Football podcast. “We go to CAS [Court of Arbitration for Sport], and we’re very hopeful. We think we’ve got great legal arguments.”
Parish says Palace has proven beyond reasonable doubt that no conflict existed and is urging UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin to review the decision.
“This is the dream for a medium-sized club,” said Parish.
“Winning a cup, qualifying for Europe—it can change your club’s history forever.”
Palace’s demotion hands Nottingham Forest the Europa League spot, and reports claim Forest lobbied for the switch.
Parish added, “If there wasn’t someone who benefited, then this wouldn’t be an issue.”
He called the ruling a “bad look for football”, especially for smaller clubs striving to reach Europe.
With Palace pushing for reinstatement, the legal fight continues—and they believe the right outcome is still possible.
