Palace prank adds insult to Liverpool’s tough defeat

Liverpool’s unbeaten run crashed at Selhurst Park after late drama, heated protests, and even a cheeky Palace fan prank kept tensions boiling

Liverpool’s unbeaten Premier League streak ended in brutal fashion at Selhurst Park as Crystal Palace stunned them with a 97th-minute winner – www.isagoal.com reports.

Eddie Nketiah struck deep into stoppage time, handing Palace a 2-1 victory after Federico Chiesa had briefly restored hope with a second-half equaliser.

Ismaila Sarr’s opener came from a corner that left Liverpool boss Arne Slot furious, with the Dutchman booked after storming out of his technical area.

Slot raged after officials wrongly gave Palace the corner, despite the ball appearing to deflect off Tyrick Mitchell before crossing the line.

“Decisions like that change games,” Slot complained, as the controversial call only increased the Reds’ frustration.

Liverpool’s usually reliable high line was also tested when assistant referees delayed flagging for offside, forcing Alisson and Szoboszlai into desperate interventions.

Virgil van Dijk and teammates protested furiously, calling for “consistency” after repeated late calls disrupted their defensive rhythm.

The tension carried off the pitch too, with a Palace fan jokingly blocking Liverpool’s team bus by tying his shoelaces in the middle of the road.

Even the stadium announcer joined in, mocking a Liverpool supporter’s half-time challenge as “almost as bad as the first half performance.”

Liverpool remain top of the table despite the setback, though Slot has now endured only his fifth league defeat since taking charge.

Manchester United’s penalty miss against Brentford earlier in the day even drew laughs in the Selhurst Park press room, adding more spice to a dramatic weekend.
