Bright Osayi-Samuel is pleading for another shot with Beşiktaş after a sudden twist derailed his free transfer to the Turkish club, IsaGoal can report.
The move fell apart after his father, Nelson Osayi, allegedly made a surprise call to the club asking for an extra €300,000 per year, as reported by Sporx.
Beşiktaş had already agreed on a three-year contract with the Nigerian defender worth €1.9 million per season before things went south.
The unexpected demand reportedly angered club president Serdal Adalı, who called off the deal immediately.
Trying to fix the situation, Osayi-Samuel reached out to the club and explained: “My father called without telling me and cancelled the transfer, I have no idea what happened. Let’s talk again.”
Despite the apology, Beşiktaş have reportedly shut the door, with Adalı refusing to reopen talks.
The Istanbul giants have now turned their focus to other right-back options in the transfer market.
Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters and Wolves’ Nelson Semedo are now being considered by Beşiktaş as they prepare for the new season.
Osayi-Samuel, now a free agent after leaving Fenerbahçe, is also on the radar of Championship newcomers Birmingham City.
With the transfer window heating up, the 27-year-old faces a race against time to find a new club and keep his career on track.
