Slavia Prague manager Jindřich Trpišovský has confirmed that Nigerian defender Igoh Ogbu may leave if Premier League clubs like Nottingham Forest or Newcastle United make a serious move. Ogbu recently extended his contract with Slavia Prague until December 31, 2027, shortly before making his Super Eagles debut in London.
According to infotbal, Trpišovský said that even though Ogbu signed a new deal, a summer transfer is still possible, especially if interest comes from English clubs. Before renewing his contract, Ogbu was already attracting attention from French Ligue 1 sides and Turkish champions Galatasaray.
Speaking on the TIKI-TAKA show in May, Trpišovský explained, “Igoh Ogbu extended his contract, which was extremely important for us. He wants to stay here, he wants to play in the Champions League, but in August it could happen that Nottingham or Newcastle call and say they need a defender. And he’ll leave anyway.”
Since joining Slavia Prague from Lillestrom, Ogbu has played an important role in the team’s defense. His solid performances and experience in European competitions have made him a player to watch in the transfer market.
Slavia Prague have secured a place in the UEFA Champions League after winning the Czech league title with four matches remaining. Ogbu has appeared in 19 European games, including the UEFA Europa League, UEFA Champions League qualifiers, and UEFA Conference League matches.
