Ethan Nwaneri turned heads with a standout display as Arsenal cruised past Port Vale 2-0 in the Carabao Cup, leaving Jamie Redknapp full of admiration — www.isagoal.com reports.
The teenager pulled the strings in midfield at Vale Park on Wednesday night, where goals from Eberechi Eze and Leandro Trossard secured Arsenal’s place in the fourth round.
Speaking on Sky Sports, former Liverpool star Redknapp said: “I’ve been impressed with Nwaneri, he’s been the sharpest of Arsenal’s players, and Eze.”
Redknapp noted that Bukayo Saka was managed with an early substitution, but insisted Nwaneri brought energy and invention that lifted Arsenal’s performance.
The 18-year-old midfielder, who signed a new deal in the summer with promises of first-team chances, looked mature beyond his years in possession.
Nwaneri recorded an 88 percent passing accuracy, won three ground duels, and frequently created openings for his teammates.
With Martin Odegaard unavailable, the youngster’s presence gave Mikel Arteta a timely boost ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Newcastle.
