Stanley Eguma has made it clear that his mission at Enyimba is simple — go for the title or secure a spot in continental football next season — www.isagoal.com reports. After joining midway through last season and lifting the team from 11th to 6th, he now wants more than just a mid-table finish.
In a conversation shared by NPFL sources, Eguma didn’t mince words. “Before anyone at the club set goals for me, I already had mine,” he said. “Winning the league is the priority — and if not that, we must qualify for the continent.”
Eguma is no stranger to silverware. He guided Rivers United to two NPFL titles and lifted the Federation Cup back in 2001 when the team was still called Dolphins. He also played a key role in Enyimba’s historic 2004 CAF Champions League win as assistant coach.
Now back in charge at one of Nigeria’s most successful clubs, Eguma believes anything short of excellence would be unacceptable. “Enyimba has nine league titles and two African crowns,” he said. “We have a legacy to protect.”
The People’s Elephant will open their 2025/26 campaign with a tricky clash against newly promoted Barau FC, as fans await a strong start.
