Reading have completed the signing of 18-year-old forward Miles Obodo, locking in the Nigerian-born attacker on a one-year deal after beating out Premier League competition — www.isagoal.com reports.
According to Reading’s official site, the club swooped in ahead of Brighton, who had previously trialed the youngster in an U18 clash against Crystal Palace, where he came off the bench and delivered an assist.
Obodo, who grew up in Basingstoke, spent his early football years at Swindon Town, breaking into their senior squad at just 16 with eight appearances across competitions.
Last season, he spent time on loan at Marlow to gain more game-time, while also contributing to Swindon’s FA Youth Cup quarterfinal run during the 2023–24 season.
His move to Reading marks his first professional contract, and he’ll link up with Peter Scott’s Under-21 side at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
“Reading showed belief in me, and I’m ready to give everything,” Obodo said following the announcement.
The Royals see Obodo as a long-term asset and expect him to develop into a key figure as he transitions from youth football to the pro ranks.
