Ndidi Linked With Rodgers Reunion At Celtic

Brendan Rodgers could return to Leicester for one of his first Celtic signings, with Wilfred Ndidi being linked.

The defensive midfielder moved to the King Power Stadium from Genk in a £17million deal in 2018 and that sort of figure would appear to put the Hoops out of the race. However, when you consider he has just a year left on his deal along with the Foxes’ relegation to the Championship, that could make it more realistic.

Rodgers was announced as Celts boss for a second time today and has reportedly been promised a bumper transfer budget after insisting that his ambitions to make waves in Europe would need to be met during talks. Signing players like Ndidi would seem to fit that bill and there is an interest there, according to the Daily Mail.

The 26-year-old has 51 caps for Nigeria and played youth football for two clubs in his homeland before making the move to Belgium in 2015, aged 20.

He joined Leicester half a season after their EPL title win as they spent money to try and stay at the top of English football.

He was part of the side that won the FA Cup under Rodgers in 2021 and finished fifth in the table twice.

A loan deal may appeal to the Parkhead club, after which he would become a free agent.
