Nathan Tella Breaks Silence on Bayer Leverkusen’s Early Struggles

Nathan Tella speaks frankly about frustration, new belief under Kasper Hjulmand, and how Bayer Leverkusen turned anger into their first win of the season

Nathan Tella admitted Bayer Leverkusen’s players were furious with themselves after their poor start to the Bundesliga season – www.isagoal.com reports.

The Nigerian forward explained that the 3-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt was not just about three points but about restoring belief.

He spoke with ESPN after the match, saying, “As a team, I don’t want to say embarrassed but we were angry at ourselves.”

That anger had built up following consecutive defeats under Erik ten Hag, which cost the Dutch coach his job earlier this month.

Kasper Hjulmand stepped in as the new manager and immediately gave the squad the lift they needed.

Tella praised the Dane’s arrival, stressing that players now feel sharper and more determined to show their quality.

He emphasized that the win does not mean the hard work is over, adding, “We don’t want to get carried away after our first win of the season.”

The winger, who played until the 83rd minute before being replaced by Christian Kofane, said the team spoke openly about standards.

According to him, training intensity and improved possession were clear signs the group wanted to respond.

At 26, Tella believes staying consistent is key as Leverkusen look to rebuild their season under Hjulmand.
