Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that defender Ben White will be sidelined for “months” after undergoing knee surgery.
Arteta elaborated on the decision to proceed with surgery, noting, “Ben has had different kinds of struggles. It hasn’t really improved in the last few weeks, and we had to protect the player.”
While the exact timeline for White’s return remains uncertain, Arteta remains optimistic that it will not extend to six months.
Despite this setback, Arteta was relieved to share that key players Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice have returned to training ahead of Arsenal‘s upcoming match against Nottingham Forest.
Both players had withdrawn from international duty, but Arteta revealed that they participated in partial training sessions.
Leandro Trossard, who had a minor injury while playing for Belgium, also appears to be fit after taking part in training.
In addition, Riccardo Calafiori is set to return to the squad after missing the last five matches due to injury.
Saturday’s game against Nottingham Forest will mark Arteta’s 250th match in charge of Arsenal.
The Gunners currently sit fourth in the Premier League, nine points behind leaders Liverpool.
