Man Utd to Battle Barcelona for Emiliano Martinez

Here Is The Easy Money-Making Trick Everyone Is Talking About! Learn More Here!

Manchester United is reportedly eyeing Emiliano Martinez to replace Andre Onana as their goalkeeper.

According to The Sun, the Red Devils are entering a fierce competition with Barcelona for the Aston Villa star’s signature this summer. Martinez, who has established himself as one of the world’s top goalkeepers, may soon leave Villa Park after receiving offers from multiple clubs, including two top European sides and the Saudi Pro League.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper has played a pivotal role in Aston Villa’s defense since joining from Arsenal in 2020 for £20 million. His impressive performances have earned him significant recognition, including winning the prestigious Yashin Trophy in 2023 and 2024 and being named The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper in both 2022 and 2024. His international success with Argentina, notably helping them win the 2022 World Cup and two Copa America titles, adds to his growing reputation.

United’s need for a new goalkeeper stems from Andre Onana’s underwhelming performances since his €55 million move from Inter Milan in 2023. Despite high expectations, Onana has faced criticism for several costly mistakes. As a result, United’s management is exploring new options, with Martinez considered the top candidate to take over as the club’s No. 1.

The potential move hinges on United’s Champions League qualification. If they can secure a victory over Tottenham in the Europa League final, they will be able to offer Martinez the opportunity to play in Europe’s elite competition next season, which is a key factor in his decision-making process.

In addition to Martinez, Manchester United is exploring other goalkeeping options, including Southampton’s Aaron Ramsdale and Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen. However, with Martinez’s experience and proven track record, he remains the most likely target for the club to replace Onana.

As one source noted, “United would love to bring Martinez to Old Trafford given their current No.1 goalkeeper Onana has largely flopped since his €55m move to the Red Devils.”
