Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Bryan Mbeumo after submitting a third bid worth £70 million to Brentford, IsaGoal can report.

Reports suggest that negotiations between the two clubs dragged on for over a month, but United finally hit the valuation Brentford have stood firm on.

The 25-year-old has already agreed personal terms and made it clear he doesn’t want to join any other club, despite interest from Tottenham.

Mbeumo is also expected to receive his preferred No. 19 shirt at Old Trafford — a number he’s worn throughout his career with Brentford and the Cameroon national team.

The shirt became vacant after Raphael Varane’s departure to Serie A side Como last summer.

Mbeumo scored 20 goals in the Premier League last season, making him one of the league’s most in-demand forwards going into the summer.

Brentford originally signed him for just £5.8m in 2019, and he has since gone on to score 70 goals in 242 appearances for the club.

“There’s only one place I want to go — and that’s Manchester United,” Mbeumo reportedly told those close to him.

United had also been chasing Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, but after failing to make progress, they pivoted to the Brentford star.

The move could be sealed in the coming days, with Brentford now ready to accept the £70m fee and allow their talisman to leave.
