Manchester City have entered advanced talks to sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo, ramping up their summer transfer activity in hopes of beating rivals Arsenal and Liverpool to his signature, IsaGoal can report,
According to The Athletic, Madrid boss Xabi Alonso has approved Rodrygo’s sale to fund further squad reinforcements.
Despite netting 14 goals and 11 assists last season, Rodrygo has grown frustrated with limited starts following Kylian Mbappé’s arrival.
The Brazilian prefers playing from the left, but Vinicius Jr. and Mbappé now dominate those spots at the Bernabéu.
City are moving quickly, with TBR Football reporting the club is already in contact with Rodrygo’s agents.
The winger’s camp has also sounded out other European giants, including Chelsea, PSG, Bayern Munich, and Liverpool.
Rodrygo is valued at €90 million (£78m), and Pep Guardiola sees him as an ideal replacement for Jack Grealish, who has been transfer-listed at £40m.
Guardiola reportedly wants a more clinical presence on the left wing—Rodrygo has delivered 68 goals for Madrid and helped win two Champions League titles.
While Arsenal remain Rodrygo’s preferred destination, their reluctance to sell Gabriel Martinelli—who was expected to fund the move—has complicated matters.
Liverpool are also in the mix, especially as Luis Diaz edges closer to a potential move to Barcelona.
