Noni Madueke led Chelsea to a resounding 6-2 victory over Wolves, securing Enzo Maresca’s first Premier League win as Blues manager.
After a 2-0 loss to Manchester City in their opener, Chelsea bounced back impressively with Madueke netting a second-half hat-trick, each goal assisted by Cole Palmer.
Chelsea took the lead just 98 seconds in when Jackson headed in from a corner.
Wolves equalized in the 27th minute through Matheus Cunha, but Palmer restored Chelsea’s lead with a brilliant lob just before halftime.
Wolves responded again with Jorgen Strand Larsen scoring after a defensive mishap by Chelsea.
However, the second half belonged to Madueke, who scored three times in 14 minutes, each goal a well-placed shot past Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa.
His hat-trick silenced the home fans, who had been booing him after a controversial social media post he made about Wolverhampton.
Felix added the sixth goal in the 80th minute, marking his return to Chelsea after a permanent move from Atletico Madrid.
Maresca praised Madueke’s overall play but noted the need to avoid careless mistakes, particularly before set-pieces.
For Wolves, it was a disappointing result that leaves them near the bottom of the table.
Manager Gary O’Neil criticized his team’s defensive errors, calling them “unacceptable.”
