Luka Modric has officially ended his legendary Real Madrid career following the club’s 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup semi-final, IsaGoal can report.
The Croatian midfielder, 39, gave one final emotional interview with Real Madrid media, reflecting on a journey that transformed both his life and the club’s history.
“An unforgettable, glorious and winning stage has ended,” Modric said. “Remembering everything I have achieved here makes me very happy, even if it is over.”
Since arriving from Tottenham in 2012, Modric has won an astonishing 28 trophies, including six Champions League titles, making him the most decorated player in Real Madrid’s history.
“At Real Madrid, I have grown as a player and as a person,” he shared. “Madrid and Spain are like my second home.”
He admitted the scale of his achievements is still sinking in. “I’m going to need some time to add up all the emotions and everything I’ve achieved here,” he added.
Modric also spoke about the fans’ affection: “You can’t fool people… The affection they have given me is impressive. I never imagined it.”
He reserved heartfelt thanks for club president Florentino Perez. “From the moment he brought me here, he always showed me special affection,” Modric said. “Seeing him cry at my last game meant everything.”
As he steps away, Modric leaves behind a dynasty defined by humility, excellence, and loyalty. “The way we won the Decima perfectly defines what Real Madrid is: never give up and believe until the end,” he concluded.
