Luis Díaz is at the centre of fresh transfer speculation, as the Liverpool forward reportedly has “no intention” of signing a new deal at Anfield, with Barcelona keen on securing his services.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona see the Colombia international as a priority target to reinforce their left-wing options this summer. His current contract at Liverpool runs until 2027, but he remains one of the club’s lowest-paid first-team players.

Last week, Sport reported that the Reds have tabled a two-year contract extension for the 28-year-old, offering improved terms. However, Díaz has postponed any renewal talks until July.

Barcelona’s interest in Díaz has escalated, with the Spanish champions identifying the Liverpool attacker as a key solution to address their tactical shortcomings. The club also want Espanyol goalkeeper Joan García, with both players featuring as “priorities” on Mundo Deportivo’s front page.

The La Liga side aim to bolster their left side of attack and view Díaz as the ideal option. His ability to operate as a winger or a centre-forward makes him a valuable addition, especially as cover for Robert Lewandowski, who turns 37 next season.

“Díaz’s versatility, profile, experience and ability to create immediate impact has seen Deco make him the priority target,” the report stated.

Sources close to the player suggest he is eager to take the next step in his career and sees a move to Camp Nou as a dream scenario. As long as the opportunity to join Barcelona remains open, he is unlikely to accept Liverpool’s extension offer.

Liverpool are reportedly demanding between €70 million and €80 million for the former FC Porto star. Whether Barcelona can meet that fee remains to be seen, particularly given their financial restrictions.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are pursuing Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz in a deal that could exceed €100 million. Barcelona believe this potential purchase may force the English club to offload Díaz to balance their spending.

As the summer window approaches, Barcelona are determined to finalise moves for both Díaz and García. While challenges remain, their recruitment efforts underline a clear intention to address gaps in their squad.
