Liverpool Ready to Seal Deal for English Defender Marc Guehi

Liverpool are pushing to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace as they aim to wrap up their aggressive summer recruitment drive.

The 24-year-old centre-back is now Liverpool’s top defensive target, with talks expected to accelerate within the next 24 hours.

Guehi, who has just one year left on his contract, has drawn interest from Newcastle and Tottenham, but Liverpool are in pole position to land him.

It would be another high-profile addition to an already stunning summer window that has seen Liverpool spend nearly £200 million on elite talent.

The Reds have already secured Florian Wirtz (£116m), Milos Kerkez (£40m), and Jeremie Frimpong (£30m), reinforcing their status as Premier League champions.

Palace value Guehi at around £70 million but may settle for an offer above £40 million, due to a 20% sell-on clause owed to Chelsea.

Liverpool’s challenge isn’t just agreeing a fee—it’s convincing Guehi he’ll play regularly under Arne Slot, with Van Dijk and Konate still first-choice.

Jarell Quansah is heading to Bayer Leverkusen for more game time, while Konate’s future remains uncertain with a year left on his contract.

At 24, Guehi is seen as a long-term successor and a natural leader at the back.

He already has 23 England caps and is a near-lock for Thomas Tuchel’s 2026 World Cup squad.

If the deal goes through, it could mark the end of Liverpool’s summer business, despite faint links to Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.
