Liverpool have been linked with various midfielders this summer, but few anticipated their interest in Real Sociedad and Spain star Martin Zubimendi.
Previously a target for Arsenal and Barcelona, both clubs cooled their pursuit after realizing Zubimendi was not keen on leaving the Reale Arena.
Instead, they shifted their focus to his midfield partner Mikel Merino, whose contract expires next summer. Arsenal is currently in talks with Real Sociedad for Merino.
However, reports suggest that Liverpool is now exploring a move for Zubimendi.
The 25-year-old has a €60 million release clause and a contract valid until 2027.
