Jordan Henderson Returns to PL with Brentford Move

Jordan Henderson returns to the Premier League with Brentford, joining a post-Frank rebuild and stepping in as a much-needed leader in the Bees’ young squad

Jordan Henderson has officially joined Brentford on a free transfer after leaving Ajax, IsaGoal can report.

The former Liverpool captain terminated his Ajax contract earlier this summer and is now set for a fresh Premier League chapter at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Speaking after signing a two-year deal, Henderson said: “I’ve always had huge admiration for the club and what they’ve achieved over the last few years.”

The 35-year-old midfielder arrives as a direct replacement for Christian Norgaard, who joined Arsenal last week, leaving a leadership gap in midfield.

Henderson also praised new Brentford head coach Keith Andrews, saying: “He was very good and very honest. He’s excited to get started as well.”

Brentford beat out multiple European clubs to land Henderson, who brings a wealth of top-level experience back to English football.

The Bees have entered a major summer transition following the exits of manager Thomas Frank to Tottenham and their captain Norgaard to north London rivals Arsenal.

Brentford could also lose star attacker Bryan Mbeumo, with Manchester United tabling two bids for the 20-goal winger.

Keith Andrews, now tasked with leading Brentford’s rebuild, said Henderson’s leadership will be vital: “He’s been one of the most influential leaders in modern Premier League years.”

Andrews continued: “We’ve got a pretty young squad, but what Jordan brings is professionalism, dedication, and the mindset needed at this level.”

Henderson’s return to England comes nearly two years after his high-profile switch to Saudi club Al-Ettifaq.

During his 12-year Liverpool spell, Henderson won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, two League Cups, and the Community Shield.

Andrews believes Henderson’s arrival will help “drive standards” at Brentford as they look to stay competitive in a post-Frank era.
