New York Jets owner Woody Johnson is currently in discussions to purchase a stake in Crystal Palace, an English Premier League club. Reports indicate the proposed deal is valued at over $200 million.
According to Sky Sports, ESPN, and Telegraph Sport, Johnson’s bid targets John Textor’s minority share in the club. Textor’s position is complicated due to multi-club ownership rules, as he also holds a majority stake in French side Lyon, which recently secured a Europa League spot.
Crystal Palace’s main stakeholders include Chairman Steve Parish, Josh Harris, and David Blitzer. Harris also has major investments in the NFL’s Washington Commanders, NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, and NHL’s New Jersey Devils.
The Eagles recently completed their Premier League season with a 13-11-14 record, finishing 12th. Their season highlight came on May 17, when they defeated Manchester City in the FA Cup final, earning their first major trophy. “Winning this was about belief, persistence, and delivering when it mattered most,” a club source said.
Crystal Palace is set to face Crawley Town in a friendly match on July 25 at 2:30 p.m. EDT in Crawley, England.
