Sevilla have confirmed a 25-man squad for their summer trip to Germany, and Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho remains part of the group – www.isagoal.com reports.
Also included are fellow Super Eagles players Chidera Ejuke and Akor Adams, as Sevilla prepare to face Schalke 04 in a high-profile friendly.
The list, announced by head coach Matías Almeyda and published by OwnGoalNigeria, adds fuel to speculation surrounding Iheanacho’s uncertain future.
Despite a difficult debut season and recent fitness issues, the 28-year-old is now back in full training after missing out on the club’s loss to Birmingham City.
“Iheanacho’s presence means there’s still belief in his ability to deliver,” a source close to the club shared.
Adams, who has just returned from injury, is also back in the mix and may be handed a central role in Almeyda’s evolving forward line.
The former Montpellier striker had been sidelined for months, but now looks ready to lead the charge in Sevilla’s fast-paced attacking setup.
Ejuke, meanwhile, is entering his second season with the club and could take on added responsibility after flashes of promise last year.
His form was disrupted by injuries, including a setback during a clash against Barcelona, but he’s had a stronger pre-season than his fellow Nigerians.
“Ejuke’s flair can thrive in our fluid system,” Almeyda reportedly said during a training session.
The Argentine coach has been reshaping Sevilla’s approach, focusing on aggressive transitions and wide play through the flanks.
So far, the results under his revamped system have been mixed, with a win, a draw, and a loss.
Returning players like Juanlu and Lucien Agoumé were also added to the travelling squad after sitting out the draw with Sunderland.
However, some names didn’t make the cut, including Alfon, Isaac, Rafa Romero, and Collado, either due to knocks or tactical rotation.
All eyes now turn to Saturday’s clash with Schalke at 17:00 CET, where the spotlight will again fall on Sevilla’s Nigerian trio.
