Football fans looking to attend the 2026 Fifa World Cup will get their first shot at tickets in September, but there’s a catch — only Visa users can apply first – www.isagoal.com reports.
Fifa confirmed that the initial release will come through a Visa-only presale draw, running from September 10 to 19, with all applications to be submitted via FIFA.com/tickets.
According to Gulf News, fans must first create a Fifa ID on the ticket portal to enter the draw, after which successful applicants will be picked randomly.
If selected, fans will receive an email starting September 30, assigning a specific date and time in October to make their purchase, depending on availability.
Visa will serve as the sole payment option during this round, as part of its role as Fifa’s Official Payment Technology Partner.
“September 10 is a date every football fan should have marked in their calendar,” said Romy Gai, Fifa’s Chief Business Officer.
“This is more than ticket access — it’s about amplifying fan energy across North America,” added Visa’s Chief Marketing Officer Frank Cooper.
More ticket phases will follow, including options for non-Visa cardholders, with complete details expected in the coming months.
The expanded 2026 tournament will include 48 nations and 104 games, spread across stadiums in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
