Hansi Flick has settled on Dani Olmo as his first-choice No.10 at Barcelona after testing several players in the position – www.isagoal.com reports.
AS confirmed that Olmo is the preferred option despite Fermin Lopez, Raphinha, and Gavi all featuring in the role during the first two games of the season.
The Spanish international was Barcelona’s headline signing last summer, arriving with expectations of instantly lifting the team’s attacking quality.
His debut campaign was interrupted by fitness problems and registration delays, yet he still delivered 19 goal contributions across 39 matches.
“Olmo gives us a different dimension when he’s on the pitch,” Flick has reportedly said when discussing the creative hub of his team.
The 27-year-old impressed again against Levante, coming off the bench to inspire a comeback that reinforced his status as the squad’s most effective playmaker.
Flick’s main concern remains Olmo’s recurring muscular issues, which limited his preseason involvement.
The German coach has chosen to reintroduce him gradually, ensuring he avoids unnecessary setbacks before cementing him as a regular starter.
Barcelona view this season as a chance for Olmo to finally deliver consistently and become the heartbeat of their midfield.
