Miguel Gutierrez looks set to leave Girona this summer, with a new opportunity in Serie A drawing closer — www.isagoal.com reports.
After three seasons in Spain, the left-back is now preparing for a fresh chapter, and Napoli appears to be his next club, according to Matteo Moretto via Football España.
AC Milan had previously shown interest, but the Italian side shifted their focus and instead brought in Pervis Estupiñán to replace Theo Hernandez.
Now it’s Napoli pushing hard for the 24-year-old, and talks between the clubs have nearly reached the finish line, with only personal terms left to finalize.
The deal would see Gutierrez sign a five-year contract, should final discussions go as planned over the coming days.
“Napoli are back in strong pursuit of Miguel Gutierrez,” reported Moretto, noting recent contact has brought the agreement with Girona nearly to completion.
Although there’s no confirmation of the final fee, Gutierrez’s contract includes a €35 million release clause, and Real Madrid will receive half of any amount paid.
That 50% sell-on clause could hand Madrid a notable profit after selling him to Girona for €4 million in 2022.
Gutierrez is currently sidelined following ankle surgery in early July, an issue that emerged shortly after preseason resumed.
He’s expected to return to action by mid-September, following a six to eight-week recovery window laid out after the procedure.
Despite injury setbacks last season, he earned a spot in Football España’s team of the season, remaining a standout in Girona’s turbulent campaign.
