Former AS Monaco and France striker Wissam Ben Yedder has been sentenced to a two-year suspended prison term for sexual assault, drunk driving, and refusing to comply with authorities.
The 34-year-old was found guilty by Nice’s criminal court.
In addition to the suspended sentence, Ben Yedder has been ordered to pay nearly $7,000 in compensation and legal fees to the victim, as well as a fine of $5,300 for his refusal to comply during the incident.
His driving license has also been suspended for six months, although his father’s vehicle was later returned.
Ben Yedder was not present for the sentencing, and the case follows a series of legal troubles for the player.
In October, the prosecutor had recommended a sentence of two and a half years, including an 18-month probation period.
Ben Yedder is already under judicial supervision after posting almost $1 million bail in relation to a separate rape accusation from the summer of 2023.
Additionally, his younger brother, Sabri Ben Yedder, faces charges of rape, attempted rape, and sexual assault.
Wissam is also dealing with a tax fraud case in Spain and is set to stand trial in December for psychological violence against his wife amid their ongoing divorce proceedings, which began in May 2023.
