Thomas Tuchel has officially been appointed as the new manager of the England national football team.
This move comes after Gareth Southgate’s resignation and Lee Carsley’s temporary management.
As of January 1, Tuchel will take the reins on an 18-month contract, and the Football Association has paired him with the highly regarded English coach, Anthony Barry.
Expressing his pride, Tuchel stated, “To have the chance to represent England is a huge privilege, and the opportunity to work with this special and talented group of players is very exciting.”
The Football Association (FA) highlighted the thorough recruitment process, with FA chief executive Mark Bullingham praising Tuchel’s vast expertise and drive, which distinguished him from other candidates.
Having previously led Chelsea to Champions League success in 2021, Tuchel brings invaluable experience and a strategic mindset to this new challenge.
Furthermore, he shares a previous working relationship with captain Harry Kane, adding depth to his potential impact on the squad.
Barry was an assistant to Portugal’s manager Roberto Martínez and he has also expressed his excitement about joining Tuchel, stating that working with the national team is the pinnacle for any English footballer.
