Fisayo Dele-Bashiru Set for Comeback Under Sarri

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is embracing a fresh opportunity at Lazio under Maurizio Sarri and believes the new season could be his turning point

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru believes his game will reach another level now that Maurizio Sarri has returned to lead Lazio — www.isagoal.com reports.

The Nigerian midfielder moved to Lazio on loan from Hatayspor last season, before making the switch permanent for €3.43 million. Soccernet.ng confirmed that the contract runs through to 2028.

Lazio reappointed Sarri for the 2025/26 campaign after a 15-month break following his resignation in March 2024. The club will hope to restart their domestic push under familiar guidance.

In a pre-season clash against Fenerbahce, Dele-Bashiru played 45 minutes in a narrow loss but appeared upbeat about Sarri’s system. “We’re still adjusting to the new tactics,” he told Lazio Style Channel.

Reflecting on Turkish sides like Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, he said, “They’re tough to break down, especially early in games. An early goal is key, but it rarely comes easy.”

He added that training under Sarri demands focus. “He’s a top-level coach. I need to listen closely and keep working. If I do that, I’ll keep growing.”

Despite some inconsistency last season, Dele-Bashiru expects better results this time. “I’m here for another year and aiming for a solid season,” he said.

He also shared hopes of helping Lazio push for a Champions League spot. “If I get chances, I want to score, assist, and contribute.”

Looking ahead, he remains focused on preparation. “Let’s have a strong pre-season first. Then we’ll take each game as it comes.”

Lazio will face Galatasaray, Burnley, and Atromitos before their league opener against Como.
