Ahmed Musa has been named the new General Manager of Kano Pillars FC, making a return to the club in an influential off-pitch role, IsaGoal can report.

The announcement came directly from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who also approved a fresh management board for the club, according to a report by The Punch.

Governor Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, confirmed that Musa’s appointment is part of broader efforts to restructure Kano Pillars ahead of the next Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

“It’s a strategic move to reposition the club using Musa’s leadership and international football experience,” said the statement.

Musa previously played for Kano Pillars before moving abroad and remains a respected figure within Nigerian football.

The decision follows several meetings with key stakeholders after the previous board’s one-year term expired.

The outgoing board guided the team to a 9th-place finish in the last NPFL season.

Most of the board members have been reappointed, but with structural changes meant to drive stronger performance.

Ali Muhammad Umar (Nayara) returns as Chairman, with Salisu Mohammed Kosawa, Yusuf Danladi Andy Cole, and others retaining roles.

The state believes Musa’s presence will inspire both the squad and management to aim higher.

Fans see this as more than a ceremonial role, hoping Musa brings real change to the club’s future.
