Prior to the Euro 2024 semi-final in Dortmund, violence erupted between Dutch and English football fans, resulting in minor injuries to five English supporters.

Video footage circulated on social media showed Dutch fans clad in orange throwing furniture at English fans outside a bar.

The UK Football Policing Unit reported multiple incidents of Dutch fans attacking English supporters in bars and attempting to steal flags.

They noted the presence of risk supporter groups among the tens of thousands of Dutch fans in Dortmund.

Billy Grant of the Football Supporters’ Association witnessed an unprovoked attack by alleged Feyenoord supporters on English fans.

The match saw a stark contrast in fan numbers, with up to 110,000 Dutch fans compared to 40,000 English supporters in the city.

Both teams had small official allocations at the Westfalenstadion stadium, leading to overcrowded bars and fan parks.

German police restricted access to the Friedenplatz fan park hours before kick-off due to overcrowding.

This incident follows earlier violence involving English and Serbian fans in Gelsenkirchen during the group stage, resulting in eight detentions by police.
