City Beats Newcastle United 2-0, Closes In on Arsenal in Premier League

In a tight Premier League race, Manchester City defeated Newcastle United 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium to reduce Arsenal’s lead on the standings to just two points.

Though Newcastle hoped to turn things around in their bid for European football next season, City dominated the match with a goal in each half.

Phil Foden put City ahead in the 15th minute with an impressive gliding run past five unlucky Newcastle players, and Bernardo Silva sealed their victory with his goal in the 67th minute.

Despite bringing on Saint-Maximum, Joseph Willock and Alexander Isak in the second half, Newcastle failed to score, while Ederson saved Isak’s effort and Joelinton missed a cross.

With this win against Newcastle, City has now won their last 14 Premier League home matches against them – tying Everton (who won 14 times against Fulham) for the longest home win streak against an opponent!
