Super Eagles striker Christantus Uche is on the verge of joining Wolverhampton Wanderers after Getafe confirmed his transfer, with medicals scheduled for tomorrow — www.isagoal.com reports.
According to Soccernet.ng, the Nigerian forward will undergo tests before officially sealing his move to the Premier League side.
The 22-year-old has impressed in La Liga with strong performances for Getafe and will now bolster Wolves’ attacking options ahead of a demanding season.
Getafe president Ángel Torres admitted financial restrictions forced the club into selling Uche despite his importance to the team.
“I’m forced to sell him, I have no other choice,” Torres said. “We’re not in favour of selling our best players, but the rules demand it, and we have to comply.”
Torres added that once the deal is complete, Getafe will look to reinvest in new signings to strengthen key positions.
The Spanish side recently lost defender Alderete, and Uche’s departure adds to their list of enforced exits.
Uche will travel to England immediately after completing medical checks, with Wolves fans hopeful he can make his debut as early as this weekend.
