Chelsea have secured the services of 18-year-old Barcelona forward Marc Guiu after triggering his €6m release clause, a long-speculated move that was finalized and announced by both clubs on Monday evening.
Barcelona had attempted to negotiate a new contract with Guiu, but the young forward harbored uncertainties about his prospects for regular first-team action, given the presence of Robert Lewandowski and Vitor Roque ahead of him in the pecking order.
Disappointed with Barcelona’s contract offer, Guiu opted to explore other opportunities.
