Kunle Soname isn’t holding back on what he thinks of NPFL strikers—he believes none of them comes close to Odion Ighalo’s level — www.isagoal.com reports.
Speaking on The Abu Azeez Podcast, the Remo Stars owner pointed out that the team would struggle in continental football unless they bring in more proven attackers. According to report, he’s even willing to bet on veterans like Ighalo if they’re open to helping local football.
“I don’t think any striker in the NPFL right now is better than Ighalo,” Soname said. “If he ever decides to play here, I’d sign him a thousand times.”
Remo Stars recently lifted the NPFL title but still lack the firepower needed to compete in CAF tournaments. Soname admitted the club needs at least two high-level forwards to stand a chance next season.
CHAN’s opening loss to Senegal added weight to his concerns. The team struggled in attack and rarely threatened the opposition goal.
While Nigeria’s top league sees talents like Anas Yusuf hit impressive numbers, many leave right after breakout seasons, chasing better contracts abroad.
Coach Eric Chelle still has two more games to fix things, but questions remain around the readiness of NPFL forwards.
