Bergomi Urges Inter Midfield Shift for Lookman Deal

Ademola Lookman could be heading to Inter Milan, but Bergomi says a midfield shake-up is the only way his style fits with Thuram and Lautaro

Ademola Lookman’s potential switch to Inter Milan has stirred up tactical debate, and Giuseppe Bergomi isn’t holding back on what needs to change — www.isagoal.com reports.

Bergomi told La Gazzetta dello Sport that Lookman’s flair and goal record are legit, but Inter’s current midfield setup just won’t cut it if he joins.

“Thuram, Lautaro, Lookman — sure, that’s firepower,” he said. “But to make it work, you’ve got to rethink the engine room.”

He’s backing a midfield revamp, calling Morten Frendrup of Genoa the best pick to provide cover and balance behind a heavy-hitting front three.

According to Bergomi, “Frendrup runs nonstop. He’s covered the entire pitch for Genoa — that’s the kind of presence Inter will need behind those attackers.”

He also floated names like Khéphren Thuram and Manu Koné as good alternatives with the stamina and grit required.

Inter’s recent €45 million offer for Lookman didn’t cut it, with Atalanta holding firm for €50 million before agreeing to any sale.

Personal terms between Inter and Lookman are already done, and the winger is ready to pack for San Siro once both clubs find common ground.

With Inter’s deadline of July 31 already past, all eyes are now on how both sides handle the standoff in the coming days.
