Barcelona Set to Return to Camp Nou as Final Approvals Near

Barcelona’s long-awaited return to Camp Nou edges closer with final approvals underway

FC Barcelona’s fans have waited over two years to see their team back at Spotify Camp Nou – and the end of the wait is near – www.isagoal.com reports.

President Joan Laporta shared updates with club media this week, confirming progress after repeated delays and false starts, according to FC Barcelona’s official site.

Plans to resume matches at the stadium in late 2024 fell through, with a hoped-for Clasico return in May scrapped and the Joan Gamper Trophy clash vs Como on August 10 canceled.

The season opener against Valencia on September 14 also moved to Estadi Johan Cruyff after licensing and permit hurdles prevented a Camp Nou game.

Laporta acknowledged the frustration over shifting deadlines but reassured supporters, saying, “We are now in the final stages of the stadium. What remains is to continue the process from an administrative and official standpoint. We are very, very excited.”

He urged fans to stay patient, emphasizing, “I encourage the members and the fans to keep this understanding, because we will all have accomplished it together.”

The president described the stadium as “a masterpiece” and highlighted the emotional impact of recent visits, adding, “It is a masterpiece that we will own and enjoy, we the Cules. Not much is left. We are moving forward.”

The club continues working tirelessly to secure the remaining permits and ensure every detail is in place for a full return to their historic home.
