FC Barcelona are working fast to make room for their new arrivals, Joan Garcia and Nico Williams. IsaGoal can report.
Mundo Deportivo confirms that Barcelona have already completed the signing of Joan Garcia from RCD Espanyol and have reached personal agreements with Nico Williams of Athletic Club.
The next step for Barcelona is to pay Williams’ €58 million release clause, which could increase slightly to around €62 million due to inflation.
To comply with La Liga’s salary cap, Barcelona plan to release seven players from their current squad.
The players expected to leave include Ansu Fati, Pau Victor, Pablo Torre, Inaki Pena, Andreas Christensen, Oriol Romeu, and Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
According to sources, “the most complex case is Marc-Andre ter Stegen,” as the goalkeeper wants to honour his contract, which runs until 2028.
Ansu Fati is currently negotiating with AS Monaco, although no deal has been finalised yet and salary talks are moving slowly.
Other players are open to new opportunities, but so far, no official offers have been made.
Barcelona believe that these player exits will provide enough salary space to register both Garcia and Williams.
Club officials are not expecting to make any large-scale sales to solve their financial challenges.
One player whose situation may change is Ronald Araujo, whose release clause will drop to €60 million starting 1 July for a short 15-day period.
Even so, this option depends entirely on whether Araujo is willing to leave the club.
Barcelona remain confident they can complete all necessary departures and register their new signings in time.
