Awoniyi Row Pushes Nuno Into Market Amid Forest Board Rift

Nuno Espirito Santo faces tension with Nottingham Forest’s owner as transfer demands rise and a Super Eagles star remains central to the storm

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has admitted his relationship with club owner Evangelos Marinakis is strained, with transfers at the heart of the issue – www.isagoal.com reports.

The Portuguese coach, once in daily contact with Marinakis, now finds dialogue difficult, telling Sky Sports his “concern is the squad and the season ahead, but our relationship has changed.”

He insists his future at City Ground is not under threat, dismissing speculation as “absolute nonsense” after Forest’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace, according to TeamTALK.

Nuno stressed that a proper conversation with the owner is necessary, saying, “We must have it. This is more important than anything.”

A major concern lies with Super Eagles defender Ola Aina, who remains irreplaceable in the squad due to his ability to cover both full-back positions.

The Nigerian missed crucial games last season with a calf injury, and Forest struggled badly in his absence, highlighting the urgent need for reinforcements.

Nuno revealed he wants “three players – one goalkeeper and two full-backs” before the transfer window shuts.

Despite new arrivals including Igor Jesus, Arnaud Kalimuendo, Omari Hutchinson, Dan Ndoye, James McAtee, and Jair Cunha, Nuno says the squad still feels incomplete.

His push for fresh signings has intensified the rift, leaving Nottingham Forest’s transfer strategy under heavy scrutiny.
