Atlético Madrid have signed Norwegian striker Alexander Sørloth from Villarreal on a four-year contract.

While the official transfer fee for Sørloth has not been disclosed, reports from Spanish media suggest that it was around €32 million ($34.9 million).

Sørloth had an impressive season, scoring 26 goals in all competitions for Villarreal, 23 in La Liga, positioning him second in the league’s scoring charts, just behind Girona’s Artem Dovbyk, who has completed his transfer to AS Roma.

In addition to Sørloth’s acquisition, Atlético Madrid is reportedly optimistic about signing Manchester City forward Julián Álvarez.

Sources have indicated that Atlético has made considerable progress in negotiations with the representatives of the Argentina international.

They are confident that Álvarez is inclined to join the club, which would ease negotiations with Manchester City.

The proposed agreement would extend for five seasons and could involve a transfer fee of up to €60 million ($65.5 million).
