Takehiro Tomiyasu is officially leaving Arsenal after reaching a mutual agreement with the club to terminate his contract, IsaGoal can report.

According to reports from English media, the Japanese international has played his final game in an Arsenal shirt after an injury-riddled four-year spell at the Emirates.

Tomiyasu, 26, still faces around five more months on the sidelines after undergoing major knee surgery in February.

The former Bologna defender, who joined Arsenal in 2021 for a fee rising to £20 million, had less than a year left on his contract.

After extensive discussions, both parties agreed it was best to part ways now rather than wait out the final 12 months of his deal.

Tomiyasu featured in just six minutes of competitive football last season, as fitness setbacks continued to plague his time in North London.

Across four seasons, he made only 79 appearances for the Gunners, despite being highly rated for his versatility in both full-back and central defensive roles.

His departure adds to a growing defensive reshuffle at Arsenal.

Kieran Tierney has already returned to Celtic, and Oleksandr Zinchenko is now being pursued by Fulham, increasing pressure on Mikel Arteta to reinforce his backline ahead of the new season.

One key target is Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera, with the Gunners reportedly preparing a new bid after their opening offer was rejected last week.
