Arsenal have initiated discussions with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Fabian Ruiz.
Arteta’s side has yet to make additions to their squad in this summer transfer window, but they are nearing a €50 million (£42.1m) deal to sign Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori.
The Gunners are also eyeing a new attacking player and a central midfielder ahead of the new season.
Discussions with PSG are reportedly subjected to Arsenal first offloading a midfielder.
The potential deal could resemble the structure used for David Raya’s transfer from Brentford last summer—a loan with an obligation to buy after a year.
Ruiz joined PSG from Napoli in August 2022 for an initial fee of €21.5 million (£18.5m).
Since then, his role at the club has been inconsistent.
In his debut Ligue 1 season, he started 21 matches but saw limited action last season under Luis Enrique, starting just 14 league games.
Despite this, Ruiz was a standout performer for Spain in Euro 2024, contributing two goals and two assists.
‘I know that my name comes up in every transfer window. But I am good in Paris. I still have three years left on my contract and I still have lots of objectives to reach with PSG.’, Ruiz told Le Parisien when asked about his future earlier this month.
