Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has expressed his heartbreak following the tragic murder of Rikki Berry, also known as “Nuggy.”

The 36-year-old was shot dead in broad daylight on Quarryside Drive in Kirkby, near Liverpool FC’s training ground, at around 6.35pm on Wednesday.

Despite being rushed to the hospital, Mr. Berry succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

The incident has led to significant police activity in the area.

A 20-year-old man from Kirkby was initially arrested on suspicion of murder but has since been bailed.

Additionally, Merseyside Police have arrested four individuals on suspicion of assisting an offender.

These four have also been released on bail, and a vehicle has been seized as part of the ongoing investigation.

In an interview, Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was born in West Derby, expressed his deep sorrow over the incident. “I think it is heartbreaking to see it in the city of Liverpool and so many people feel the same way whenever it happens,” he said.

He emphasized that the police and authorities are doing their utmost to address such situations, and he extended his prayers to the affected families.

Alexander-Arnold, alongside Jamie Carragher and Conor Coady, is actively involved with the charity Roots and Wings, aiming to support children from disadvantaged backgrounds in reaching their full potential.

The Liverpool defender hopes that through initiatives like Roots and Wings, they can contribute to reducing gun violence and fostering a brighter future for young people on Merseyside.
