Super Eagles star Bassey calls Salah a Premier League nightmare

Calvin Bassey names Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah as his toughest opponent, praising the Egyptian’s influence in both the Premier League and African football

Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has revealed that Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is the most difficult opponent he has ever faced in the Premier League – www.isagoal.com reports.

During a fun “Best Friend Test” with Sky Sports alongside his international teammate Alex Iwobi, the Fulham defender admitted that Salah gives him more trouble than anyone else.

Iwobi had no hesitation in guessing the answer, and his pick of Salah proved spot on during the exchange captured on camera.

Bassey explained that defending against the Egyptian forward is a nightmare, describing him as a player who constantly forces defenders into uncomfortable situations.

“Mohamed Salah is unbelievable. He’s such a baller. When you get dragged out to defend him, you’re in trouble,” Bassey admitted with a smile.

The Fulham star added that Liverpool’s system often leaves him facing Salah directly, making their battles even more intense.

He recalled playing against Salah twice, and both times, the Egyptian forward proved to be a handful with his pace, dribbling, and movement.

Beyond their personal duels, Bassey praised Salah’s contribution to African football, calling him the most influential African to ever feature in the Premier League.

“Salah is a three-time PFA Player of the Year, and what I will say is that he’s done some unbelievable things in the game,” Bassey said.

He also pointed out that Salah has brought global recognition to African football in a way that stands out in this generation.

Bassey acknowledged that legends like Yaya Toure made their mark too, but feels Salah’s worldwide reach has set a new standard.

Salah has already scored four goals in ten matches against Fulham, and their next clash promises another fierce contest.
