AC Milan Set to End Origi’s Contract in January

Divock Origi's time at AC Milan is drawing to a close, with a contract termination expected in January.

Divock Origi’s tenure at AC Milan is nearing its end. The Belgian striker, once celebrated for his pivotal role in Liverpool’s 2019 Champions League triumph, has found himself sidelined at Milan. Reports suggest that while an immediate contract termination is unlikely, a parting of ways is anticipated in January.

Origi’s journey with Milan has been tumultuous. After joining the club in 2022, he struggled to make an impact, leading to a loan spell at Nottingham Forest during the 2023/24 season. However, his performance there was underwhelming, with no goals in 20 appearances.

A significant hurdle in Origi’s potential departure is Italy’s Growth Decree, a tax law that, despite being repealed in 2023, still affects contracts signed before its abolition. This legislation offers tax benefits to foreign workers but also imposes restrictions on their ability to leave the country, complicating Origi’s situation.

Despite these challenges, Origi remains under contract with Milan. The club is reportedly keen to resolve the situation, aiming for a resolution in the upcoming transfer window.
