Justin Madugu is not waiting long after winning WAFCON 2024 as the Super Falcons coach has already turned his focus to the 2026 qualifiers – www.isagoal.com reports.
The Nigerian tactician stressed that victory in Morocco brought huge attention to his team, and he believes opponents will now prepare harder against them, Soccernet.ng reports.
According to Madugu, “We have achieved what we have achieved, but the qualifiers start in October, and we must begin work now.”
He explained that the Falcons will face Benin Republic over two legs, with the first tie scheduled for October 20 and the return match a week later in Nigeria.
The coach admitted he wanted to test new players before the last tournament but limited time made it too risky.
Now, he plans to use at least two camps between now and October to give fresh talents a chance to fight for places in the squad.
“We must create more competition in the team,” Madugu emphasized, pointing out that depth will be critical in the next campaign.
The 61-year-old and his coaching crew have already drafted a program that covers preparations before the qualifiers and continues into the later stages.
