Brown Ideye Ends Two-Decade Career, New Role Awaits

Brown Ideye has drawn the curtain on his playing career after 20 years across Europe, Asia, and Africa, leaving fans curious about his next chapter

Brown Ideye has announced his retirement from football at the age of 36, closing the curtain on a career that spanned nearly two decades — www.isagoal.com reports.

The former Super Eagles striker confirmed his decision in an emotional message shared on social media, where he thanked God, his family, and his supporters for their roles in his journey, according to Premium Times.

“After much thought and consideration with mixed emotions, I’ve decided to retire from professional football,” Ideye wrote, adding that the game had given him unforgettable memories.

He paid tribute to his loved ones, saying, “I thank my family and friends for their unwavering love, support and understanding till this day.”

A member of Nigeria’s 2013 Africa Cup of Nations-winning team, Ideye also shone for clubs like Dynamo Kyiv, West Bromwich Albion, Aris Thessaloniki, Malaga, and Tianjin Teda.

He represented Nigeria 27 times, scoring six goals, and described wearing the Super Eagles shirt as one of his proudest honours.

Though his playing days are over, Ideye has already stepped into a new role as Director of Player Pathways & Partnerships at Atlantic Business FC.
