Rangers have added teenage fullback Jayden Meghoma to their squad on a season-long loan from Brentford, with the deal awaiting international clearance – www.isagoal.com reports.
Sporting heritage has again played a role, as the 19-year-old defender is eligible for Nigeria and has openly kept the Super Eagles option on the table, according to Brentford’s official website.
Meghoma admitted earlier this year, “My dad is Nigerian and that is an important part in my life… playing for Nigeria is a consideration because you never know what happens in football.”
Although he has represented England at youth levels from U15 to U19, the left-back has not ruled out switching allegiance later in his career.
He follows Emmanuel Fernandez as the second Nigerian-eligible defender to sign for the Glasgow club this summer.
The youngster previously gained senior experience at Preston North End, Southampton, and also made his Premier League debut for Brentford against Chelsea.
