Nigeria’s Super Eagles B have dodged CAF’s disciplinary action despite an embarrassing early exit from the 2024 African Nations Championship — www.isagoal.com reports.
Their campaign ended with a crushing 4-0 defeat to Sudan, a result that matched their heaviest loss in CHAN history.
Earlier, the team had fallen 1-0 to Senegal, marking the first time Nigeria had lost both opening group games at the tournament.
Coach Eric Chelle had promised fans “the best game of our lives” before facing Sudan.
Instead, the team struggled with poor defending, misplaced passes, and a lack of control.
Chelle delayed his post-match appearance, later admitting, “It’s the worst game I have overseen from the dugout as coach.”
While Nigeria avoided penalties, CAF fined Zambia $5,000 for their coach’s absence from a mandatory press conference.
Kenya received a $50,000 fine over multiple safety and security failures in their clash with Morocco.
Morocco were also hit with a $5,000 penalty, half suspended, for inappropriate player conduct in the same match.
CAF warned that repeat offences could trigger harsher consequences.
All fines must be paid within two months of notification.
Nigeria will conclude their group stage against Congo on August 19, with Congo chasing a spot in the knockout rounds.
